Egg #15: See What I Do For You?

Egg #15 made me feel hatred. On the one hand this is a very impressive design for a toy which fits inside a tiny yellow capsule. On the other hand I was ready to throw this thing at a wall and pretend I'd never opened it. Which is awesome because this is one of a series of at least two of these jerks.

'Motten machen die flatter' translates to 'make the moths flutter' which is a total misrepresentation of what this toy does. Not just a misrepresentation; a bullshit lie.

The moth head has a rubber band through which you thread all of his wing pieces. The instructions make it look straightforward but doing this aged me at least a year per wing. Then you stick all that on the post, after which you are supposed to squeeze his wings shut and clip his cocoon around him, holding it shut with the little end piece. This is also difficult on a level way above kindergarten, KINDER.

You can see an extra rubberband wrapped around the post. I'm not sure if I was supposed to use it anywhere or if it's just an extra in case the first one breaks
So then you're supposed to pull off the end piece and the moth busts out of its cocoon. This part at least is pretty accurate. The moment you even touch the cap the moth loses its mind and violently flings its cocoon off and scares you. Yes, you know it's coming. It's scary anyway. There is no fluttering.

It is funny, however, when you trick your lovely assistant into demonstrating it for you:


It's possibly less funny when your three-year-old then punks you in return.


SEE? It's scary even though you know what happens..

The moth's saving grace is how creepy it is with the spiderweb and skull wings.
