Egg #82: There's A Horror Story Here

Egg #82 is a pretty simple little thing. It's a snail that comes in a few pieces and snaps together in a very straightforward way. The oddness of it is definitely all about what it depicts. It isn't a toy with moving parts or anything. No; it's a piece of a strange mystery.

'Das kleine schneckendorf' translates to 'the little snail village'. This snail's shell is the building for a gas station and the sign on it reads 'Tankservice fit und flott' which means 'fit and fast'.

The disturbing part is that all the snails in the series are using their shells as things which make up a community; houses, town hall, restaurants, churches, disco clubs, et cetera. The house one even has a fence around it, indicating that these snail buildings don't move much (if at all.) So… who's making use of them? Who's going inside and dancing and praying and eating? Whose vehicles are pulling up for gas and getting their windshields washed?

What is going on?
